Peter Valerio – Founder & Roaster
Peter Valerio was born in Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil. He lived in Guaxupe, near Sao Pedro, from the age of 4-10 and again from 16-18. He worked with his uncle at a coffee warehouse and developed a love of coffee. He served in the Brazilian military for 5 years. After his service was completed, he decided to move to the United States.
Peter lived in South Korea for four years and a year in Spain, the land of Peter’s grandparents. Upon returning to the United States, Peter started in the pool industry. Peter owns and operates Lakewood Ranch Pool & Paver. During a visit to Brazil in 2018, Peter decided to start Sao Pedro Café Importers. During 2019 the company acquired the roasting machines and initial inventory.
In 2020, the company was licensed and ready for business. Peter went to roasting school in Brazil and studied with the roasting machine designer. He has loved learning to consistently make the perfect, smooth roast of Medium, Dark, Italian Espresso, or Traditional coffee.
Cheri Valerio – Accounting & Administration
Cheri Christiansen Valerio was born in St. Louis, Missouri. She grew up in Kansas City and graduated with degrees in Accounting and Business Administration at the University of Kansas. She has been a resident of Lakewood Ranch, FL since 2001.
Cheri is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a Masters in Healthcare Administration. Cheri began her career at KPMG specializing in the healthcare and banking industries. She transitioned to the healthcare industry full time with Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, TX. She raised two wonderful sons at home for a decade and then returned to the healthcare industry in wellness, operating a 24-employee multidisciplinary Wellness Center and Yoga Studio. During Covid, she closed the wellness center and returned to the accounting and tax industry. In addition to working at Corporate Tax Advisors as an R&D and ERC Tax Consultant, she manages the finances of LWR Pool & Paver and Sao Pedro Café.
She enjoys helping Peter roasting, packaging and delivering coffee. Most of all she enjoys having a perfect, freshly-roasted cup of coffee every morning prepared by Peter – the perfect start of every day together.
Luciano Marques – Marketing Manager
Luciano Marques has been in the wine and restaurant industry since 2010. He is a sommelier and has managed restaurants and well as providing consulting services for restaurant start-ups. He has a passion for great coffee and has been serving and tasting coffee throughout his career. His family is Italian and Brazilian. He has a lovely wife and is a father of two children.
